Author: kentchandler1977 // Category: Fără categorie|
IMDB rating: 6.70 Plot: It all begins at a secret school in the clouds like none on earth: Sky High, the first and only high school for kids with super-human powers going through crime-fighting puberty. At Sky High, the student body throw flames with their footballs, study Villainy with their Chemistry and are divided into Heroes and Sidekicks instead of jocks and geeks. It’s an out-of-this-world yet completely recognizable place where cool gadgetry, rampant bravery and awe-inspiring magical skills mix it up with parental battles, peer pressure and dating trouble—with explosively fun results. This year’s class features some of the best, brightest and most powerfully gifted super-teens ever assembled. And then there’s Will Stronghold. When you’re the son of the world’s most legendary super heroes, The Commander and Jetstream, people expect you to live up to the family name The problem is that Will is starting with no superpowers of his own and, worst of all, instead of joining the ranks of the Hero class, he finds himself relegated to being a Sidekick. Now he must somehow survive his freshman year while dealing with an overbearing gym coach, a bully with super speed and a dangerous rebel with a grudge (and the ability to shoot fire from his hands)—not to mention the usual angst, parental expectations and girl problems that accompany teenage life. But when an evil villain threatens his family, friends and the very sanctity of Sky High, Will must use his newfound superpowers to save the day and prove himself a Hero worthy of the family tradition. |

Needing help w/ knowing what to eat?
I’m a 38 yr old, over weight, by approx 60 pounds and I’ve recently been hospitalized w/ hypertension. I’ve been on BP meds since around the age of 25 (it runs in the family, both sides). But lately, the bottom number (diastolic) has gone sky high for no reason. When I was admitted to the hospital my BP reading was 144/115, and I was feeling the effects. My current BP med was increased and Lisinopril was added and also increased. I was told upon discharge to decrease my salt/sodium intake (which I rarely, rarely salt anything) and to limit caffeine (which for approx 10 yrs I’ve had very little caffeine, w/ a few "cheating" incidents lately).
I’m not much of a cook, and my eating habits are AWFUL, a lot of tv dinners (high in sodium, of course), fast food sandwiches and TOO MANY sweets. I really wish I’d never been introduced to the world of sweets. Because of the caffeine issue, I don’t eat much chocolate. I’ll eat a blizzard from DQ occasionally, that’s it as far as chocolate goes. I’m needing help knowing what’s ok for me to eat that’s low in sodium that doesn’t take much cooking and what fiber’s to eat. I should also let you know, that I have IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome. So, its not a good thing for me to eat raw vegetables or fruits. But every now and then I do get away w/ eating a salad and my IBS doesn’t kick in. And yes, I desperately need to exercise, I’m almost 200 pounds. I’m also trying to get over a urinary tract infection that has left me more tired and weak than before, but I’m on an antibiotic for that and I’m gradually feeling better, getting my energy back, but I’m usually always tired.
If anyone can help or give me some ideas, I’m all for it.
Thanks.
Hey, I was just reading your story about not sure what to eat. First let me tell you somthing that happen to my grand father ? he loved his food and he could not stop and he got so heavey then he was not able to walk because the wait, last year he got sick in th hospital and he past away because he was not heathy, but if he would of changed his eating habbits, he would of been alive today – you need to see a docter for help. ask what is a good eating diet, start from their, your still young to make changes in your life, you got to be strong and not give up.

Avoid them tv dinners if you know they are bad for you. If you cant eat fruits and vegetable… I don’t really know where else you can get fiber other than grains, because fruits and veggies are not only good for fiber, but for vitamins, like C and such. Really try talking to your doctor and get them to give you a personalized diet ‘cuz I don’t really know what’s the proper diet for IBS. If you know you need to excercise, do it. Try slow walking at least for 20 minutes a day and then raise the intensity gradually. But really, try talking to a doctor. Hope your health gets better.
And, oh, avoid all refine and enriched flours- try stuff with at least 3 grams of fiber or more.

I am on BP meds and had a lousy diet – I tipped the scales at 294 back in March when I broke my ankle – I was told then I had heart issues and diabetes and was told to adjust my diet or get my will ready. I went on an all out search to find things I like (I am a sweets addict) and also loved the fast foods. To date I have lost 91 pounds and am feeling so much better. And I am still losing because of changing my eating habits. I had my gallbladder out some years ago – and it basically has the same effects as IBS when eating most raw fruits and veggies – so I am going to clue you in on a few ideas and things I have changed, tried and tested and I hope it helps you out. It will take a few days to "re-train" your taste buds and a few weeks to change your habits to where you are comfortable with things – but stick with it as it is the end result you are after – longer life and healthier you!!! I do not count calories and I have emphysema/copd and cannot exercise as much as I would like – my lungs are bad enough that it keeps me from breathing/normally when doing any kind of exertion at all.
1st – you have to cut out – or at least cut way down on your salt intake as your drs. have said – Mrs. Dash is a salt free seasoning that is awesome on everything from veggies to main courses. It gives it flavor without the salt – and after a few days – you will not notice the lack of salt. You can mess with any of the spices as long as it has no salt that is available at your local grocery.
2nd – the sweets were a BIG issue with me – and the fact that when I cooked, it was usually sweets – cookies, cakes, pies and home made candies. Well – I still cook tons of things to this day for my crew – what they don’t know is that I switched regular sugar and brown sugar to Splenda brand – and they cannot tell the difference! It cuts down on the caloric intake, decreases the sugar you take in but you still have the sweets you want to eat, in healthier doses – there is 1 big trick to this (other than will power) If you cook sweets, place just a few cookies (or whatever you made) in the snack size (half size of a sandwich bag) ziploc bags. Freeze whatever you have and simply allow yourself 1 bag a day or every other day…. Make cookies that are high in fiber and are still delicious (oatmeal with raisins or small pieces of apples or even applesauce in the mix are a good one – fiber and fruit) – Oh and Hersey’s puts out a fantastic sugar free variety of chocolate candies that you can add a small piece to a cookie for a different flavor – HOWEVER do not add too much because it can have the same effect as eating too much lettuce !
3rd – if you have a little time and a used bookstore near you – go in and spend a little time looking for cookbooks with things you like AND with the nutritional values added at the end of each recipe (or in the back of the book) Weight Watchers has a few awesome cookbooks and all I do to each recipe is omit salt and sugar and add an equal amount of Splenda or Mrs. Dash’s or some other spice that is sodium free. I take 1 day a week (usually Sunday afternoons) and make 3 or 4 dishes and package them up for the week and freeze them – for work and for dinner if I have made enough. If I take them for lunches to work, it helps me avoid the temptation of going to a fast food restaurant – and pretty much the same is true if I know I have dinner in the freezer for dinner that night. Pre planning is an awesome way to give you the incentive to do the right thing for you and save you a ton of money in the process. Going to a used bookstore to buy cookbooks not only saves you money, but allows you to buy something that they may no longer print with an "old timey" recipe that may have been in your family for years that you haven’t been able to find or make! And like with most used bookstores, when you are done with those books, take them back and exchange them for new things you might like to try.
4th – as with most people with HPB you need to exercise a little every day – park your car a little further out in the parking lot each time you go somewhere – grocery, mall, work. Head to a park during lunch hour, eat, and grab a bottle of water and walk for 15 minutes. Stay hydrated – and the more you drink water – the better you will feel!
5th – my final incentive is a really great one, suggested by my family Dr. On average, figure out how many times a week/month you eat fast food, what you spend on junk, etc…. every time you have the urge – throw that amount of money in a jar (keep 1 at home and 1 in your car) and let it add up for say 6 months – mine was 6 months and by August I had almost $500.00 – by that time I had lost so much weight, I went and bought new clothes with the money I had saved!!! I not only had new clothes that fit, but something to show to family and friends – telling them that what I bought was with the money I would have spent on junk and would have killed me in the end! I ha
